<a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/lady_gaga/artist.jhtml">Lady Gaga</a> is known for her prolific Internet presence, and now she can lay claim to another achievement: She's the first person to pass 20 million followers on <a href="https://twitter.com/#!/ladygaga" target="_blank">Twitter</a>. Mother Monster has yet to acknowledge the feat on her social network of choice, but, on February 9, when she noticed her number of followers eclipsed 19 million, she good-naturedly <a href="https://twitter.com/#!/ladygaga/status/167686723906703360" target="_blank">tweeted</a>, "19 Million Followers!!! HOLY HOOKER!!! *goes back to work*" Like many celebrities, Gaga has used Twitter to forge a closer relationship with her fans as well as make announcements about her career and respond to criticism, as she recently did when British music magazine NME named her hit album Born This Way the <a href="/news/articles/1679839/lady-gaga-most-pretentious-albums-born-this-way.jhtml">Most Pretentious Album Ever</a>. Gaga has been the most followed person on Twitter since August 2010, when she blasted past <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/spears_britney/artist.jhtml">Britney Spears</a> for the title when she reached 5.6 million followers. Spears now enjoys 13.6 million followers, making her the seventh most-followed person on the network. Currently in third place is Katy Perry with 15.7 million followers. Shakira (14.5 million) and Rihanna (14.5 million) are not far behind. The only person within spitting distance of Gaga on Twitter is <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/bieber_justin/artist.jhtml">Justin Bieber</a>. The recent <a href="/news/articles/1680248/justin-bieber-birthday-gifts.jhtml">birthday boy</a> has just over 18 million followers. He is, however, a far more prolific tweeter than Gaga; the <a href="http://www.latimes.com/business/technology/la-fi-tn-lady-gaga-20-million-followers-twitter-20120305,0,4076491.story" target="_blank">Los Angeles Times</a> notes that he has sent out 10 times as many tweets as the "Born This Way" diva. Gaga also enjoys a massive following on <a href="http://www.facebook.com/ladygaga" target="_blank">Facebook</a>, where she's been "liked" by nearly 49 million people. But Mother Monster cannot claim being the boss on Facebook. That title belongs to <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/rihanna/artist.jhtml">Rihanna</a>, who has been liked by nearly 53 million individuals.

Earlier this week, British music mag <a href="http://www.nme.com/blog/index.php?blog=1&title=the_most_pretentious _albums_ever&more=1&c=1&tb=1&pb=1" target="_blank">NME</a> set out to determine the "10 Most Pretentious Albums Ever." The list includes (genuinely pretty terrible) conceptual fare like Kiss' Music From "The Elder," Lou Reed's Metal Machine Music and, uh, <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/lady_gaga/artist.jhtml">Lady Gaga</a>'s Born This Way, which somehow bested all competitors to nab the #1 spot. How? Well, as NME writer Priya Elan wrote, "On Born This Way, [Gaga] seemed to believe in her own hype, convinced she had a message to share. Cue an album of unwieldy 'anthems' that couldn't mask the fact that the fun had left the building." Elan singled out the thumping "Scheiße" as BTW's most pretentious moment, adding, "Did electroclash die for this?" Snap. As you'd probably expect, those jabs had Gaga's Little Monsters on the offensive, and they launched an all-out attack on Elan in the comments section of NME's website. But Gaga herself remained above the fray — for a while, anyway. On Thursday night, she took to her <a href="https://twitter.com/#!/ladygaga/status/172828595134267392" target="_blank">Twitter account</a> to hit back at NME, a publication that's certainly been <a href="http://i28.tinypic.com/2vwzpfp.jpg" target="_blank">no stranger to charges of pretentiousness</a> over the years. "Oh the irony of winning 'Most Pretentious Album Ever' from none other than NME. *Eye roll,*" Gaga wrote. "I might laugh forever [and] then return to narcissism." Double snap. Having sufficiently eye-rolled her way through the situation, there's been no further comment from Gaga about the list. NME, of course, has since turned the exchange into <a href="http://www.nme.com/news/lady-gaga/62233" target="_blank">a separate story,</a> one which, for whatever reason (word count?), includes recent comments Gaga made about bulimia … and spaghetti. *Eye roll.*

I’ve been watching a lot of HGTV since coming to LA. My favorite shows are House Hunters and House Hunters International. There’s also another show I like to watch called For Rent, but only because it makes me angry.

When it comes to apartments/homes, I think living in New York for the past eleven years has made me bitter because there was this whiny broad on For Rent a few nights ago who was looking at a huge place—A HUGE PLACE—and was like, “There’s no place for a dining room table…”

B*TCH, YOU’RE LUCKY TO GET A KITCHEN IN NEW YORK.

I hated her.

Now there’s some stupid lady on House Hunters who wants a townhouse with a fireplace that she can turn on with a light switch. IT HAS TO BE A LIGHT SWITCH because she doesn’t want to bend down and flip a switch on the floor.

WHO DO THESE PEOPLE THINK THEY ARE?

Anyway, I know my LA update is WAY overdue (and truth be told I wrote a long one last week but for some reason it didn’t save so I lost the whole thing and I was so angry that I just said, “Ah, f*ck it,” and closed the computer instead of rewriting) but to give you a quick update, I AM SO HAPPY HERE. I MEAN, I’M REALLY, REALLY HAPPY. And I think living here and watching HGTV—both of these things combined—has made me realize that New York was just beating me down. I mean, the fireplace lady—yes, she’s an idiot. But there’s nothing wrong with wanting a dining room table. Why did I get so mad at that lady?

Since being here, at least once a day I ask myself why I have lived in New York for so long. (It’s like I had Stockholm Syndrome or something.) CALIFORNIA IS AWESOME. It’s like the promised land. It’s sunny all the time and there are birds and flowers everywhere. I have space out here. I have a sofa on the patio out here. I HAVE A SOFA OUTSIDE. I haven’t seen one rat since I’ve been here. But hummingbirds? THEY ZIP BY MY HEAD EVERY DAY. I am so happy.

I’m supposed to go back to New York in November, but truth be told, I’m not sure I will.

Pop star, who is prepping ‘Justin Bieber: Just Getting Started,’ will write foreword to Pattie Mallette’s revealing tell-all about her troubled youth.

Her son is prepping his second photo book, but Pattie Mallette, mother of international pop sensation <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/bieber_justin/artist.jhtml">Justin Bieber</a>, is planning something far more revealing — an intimate memoir about her difficult youth and how she turned it all around when she became pregnant with Justin. <a href="http://www.billboard.com/#/news/justin-bieber-s-mom-writing-a-memoir-1006380152.story?utm_source=most_recent" target="_blank">Billboard</a> reports Mallette has inked a deal with Christian book publisher Revell to open up about her traumatic upbringing, which included violence, substance abuse and a suicide attempt at age 17. <center><embed src="http://media.mtvnservices.com/mgid:uma:video:mtv.com:744688/cp~id%3D1680192%26vid%3D744688%26uri%3Dmgid%3Auma%3Avideo%3Amtv.com%3A744688%26instance%3Dmtv" width="460" height="260" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowFullScreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" base="." flashVars=""></embed></center> "Pattie's story is a powerful example of courage and determination that will inspire anyone who has faced struggles in life," Revell editorial director Jennifer Leep said in a statement. Mallette intends her story to inspire women suffering through similarly difficult circumstances, saying, "I want them to see that no matter how desperate their circumstances may be, they can have hope for a better future." Courtney Robertson and Ben Flajnik Just Might Work, Bachelor’s Chris Harrison Opines

The Bachelor host Chris Harrison spoke to reporters via conference call today and shared his thoughts on the re-engaged Ben Flajnik and Courtney Robertson.

Chris paints a fair portrait of the controversial couple, and sympathizes with Courtney (though he concedes he and his family were Team Lindzi from the start).

Will the couple make it? Will we see them on TV again? And what was it like whipping out that ring on the After the Final Rose special? So many questions.

Excerpts from his lengthy interview on all of that and more below:

On whether he’s rooting for rooting Ben and Courtney:

“Of course I’m rooting them on. You know, why wouldn’t you?”

“I mean, I know that she wasn’t the most popular choice and that if you put it to America’s vote maybe she wouldn’t have been in it, but I think the important thing and the great thing about the show is that was Ben’s choice.”

“Why not respect that? Who am I not to respect that? And so of course I wish them the best and the million dollar question, will they make it? Who knows? Who’s to say which couples make it in life? But I wish them the very best.

On pulling out the ring on ATFR:

“Yes, in 10 years of doing this show that’s never happened before. Usually, the couple’s either broken up or they’re together and you know definitively one way or the other, and really for the first time I did not know how that show was going to go.”

“So, it was very awkward holding that ring and handing it to him and even in handing it to him I wasn’t sure it was going to happen. It was a really awkward moment, but I think it was a pivotal moment, showing them their proposal again.”

“Getting them back in that space and remembering what it was all about and how happy they were and then putting the ring back on her finger turned out to be a beautiful moment. But I guess it could have gone the opposite direction.”

The Bachelor Finale: Ben Flajnik Proposes to Courtney Robertson

On how Ben and Courtney actually click:

“They’re both kind of quirky people and in a weird way they very much fit. He really liked the way [Courtney Robertson] challenged him and she never took what he called ‘The Ben pill’ and just went with the status quo.”

“She always challenged the whole thing and he really liked that. I think that it was something that didn’t quite come across on TV and obviously we were all kind of caught up in the emotion of Courtney, in what she was doing.”

On the audience booing Courtney ravenously:

“I felt kind of bad for her and – not that maybe she didn’t deserve it to a certain extent and she didn’t bring it on herself, but you still feel bad when this happy couple or supposedly happy couple walks out and people are booing them.”

“It was – it’s tough and it just goes to show what a chord this show strikes and how emotional it is for everybody involved. Not just people on it but the viewers as well.”

On the softer, gentler, vulnerable side of Courtney:

“I do see a genuine side of Courtney. I see a very vulnerable side and, again, I know like I can hear the fans in my head right now booing and saying, ‘oh, you’re drinking the Courtney Kool-Aid.’ I’m not. I’m not justifying anything.”

“I’m not saying she’s Mother Teresa, and I’m not saying she’s the greatest woman in the world. But what I do know is, this situation got the best of her.”

“I do know that, you know, that there was definite real emotion there and she does care for Ben. Good or bad that’s the most important thing that I can see as far as Ben and her leaving and going off to live their life.”

On watching Ben Flajnik cry on stage:

“This sounds weird, but I was actually happy to see it. It was kind of nice to see both he and Courtney let down their guard and show very real emotion.”

“I was happy to see that they have that in them together and that when they were together that’s when it happened because that means a lot.”

“That it happened when they felt safe together and they came together and that’s when that real emotion came out. I know that maybe a little deep and little too psychological to get in an interview but I was relieved to see that.”

On why he didn’t press Ben about the obvious kissing photos:

“I never saw the pictures. I don’t really, I didn’t care. I’ve seen them since. Someone gave them to me when I hosted Access Live the other day and it [looked bad].”

“It looked very compelling and it looked – it… put him in a bad light. I mean I see why everybody was so upset. But I also know that and I don’t know the explanation – whether it’s true, false or not – and I’ll take Ben at his word.”

“She’s apparently a very good friend of his, is what he said and whatever explanation he gave. So I’ll take his word for it. But no, I just saw it well after the show.”

On Lindzi Cox being cut out of the AFTR special:

“We need to keep the story going and that story was Ben and Courtney, and we kept that story going forward, you, especially the audience I’m talking about.”

“And I talked to Ben, I talked to Courtney and then when we brought them out together and you had that emotional scene and they’re crying. To go then back to Lindzi would – it just made no sense and it left her nowhere to go.”

“And so we talked to her and she understood and so she felt she really didn’t have any questions unanswered. She really didn’t have any issues and so all that being said, why put her out there in kind of a no-win situation?”

On being a card-carrying member of Team Lindzi:

“Yes, it’s impossible not to be a Lindzi fan. She was my daughter’s favorite too. So I kind of have this other fan at home, my little eight-year-old girl who doesn’t watch the show and really has never known a character on the show ever.”

“But for some reason she must have been walking through that first night and she saw Lindzi ride up on a horse and that was it. So all of a sudden she was a Lindzi fan and then my family was in Belize and met Lindzi and fell in love with her.”

“Lindzi was kind of a family favorite for us throughout, just so sweet and so easy to get along with – not so much to say that Ben made the wrong choice.”

“Ben made the right choice for him and I had my times where I got along fine with Courtney as well, but Lindzi was just such a loving, lovable person.”

On whether we’ll see a Ben and Courtney update:

“We haven’t talked about it. The great thing about this show is that it really is the modern day soap opera. And these stories will continue to play out.”

“And so, of course, if there’s something big whether it’s a proposal or I guess a marriage because there are already engaged, or anything significant then, yes.”

On whether they’re moving in together:

“They’re not moving in together per se. They’re going – he’s keeping his place. Obviously he works up in Sonoma in San Francisco and she’s down in Santa Monica.”

“And so they’re going to go back and forth when she’s in Santa Monica he’ll be down a lot and when he’s up in San Francisco and has to work she’ll be up there.”

“So they’re going to kind of split between the two cities. And again, the big question is… are they going to put in the work and actually be together in the end?”

“So again, it’s up to them to kind of write their own story. Only time will tell.”

Kony 2012 Campaign Catches Eyes Of Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga

Campaign aims to bring African militia leader Joseph Kony to justice for war crimes and for enlisting children as soldiers.

A campaign to stop the nearly 30-year, brutal rule of African militia leader Joseph Kony became a viral sensation this week. <a href="http://kony2012.s3-website-us-east-1.amazonaws.com" target="_blank">"Kony 2012,"</a> started by the group Invisible Children, aims to make Kony's face so famous that authorities will finally be able to arrest him and try him for his crimes. A 30-minute <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y4MnpzG5Sqc" target="_blank">documentary</a> released on Monday is one of the keys to the campaign, and as of Thursday it had gotten more than 26 million views. The video details the atrocities carried out by Kony and his Lord's Resistance Army. The campaign appears to be working, as at one point on Wednesday, Invisible Children and #stopkony were trending higher on Twitter than Peyton Manning or the new iPad. Since 1987, human rights officials say Kony has forcefully abducted more than 60,000 children to be soldiers in his army and reportedly raped, mutilated and killed civilians in Uganda, the Democratic Republic of Congo and South Sudan and displaced more than 2 million people. The leader is wanted for committing atrocities by the International Criminal Court and is being hunted down by 100 U.S. Special Forces advisers and local troops in four Central African nations, according to the <a href="http://bit.ly/AyrDyz">Associated Press.</a> Kony 2012 is an effort to capture Kony and disarm the LRA before a reported window of opportunity closes. One way it plans to do that is by encouraging users to directly message a variety of stars to make use of their Twitter ubiquity to get the word out. Among those listed on the site are: Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift, Rihanna, Angelina Jolie, Oprah Winfrey, George Clooney, Jay-Z, Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg, Ryan Seacrest and Ellen DeGeneres, along with a number of major policymakers. When users click on the celebs' photos, a tweet pops up that reads: Help us end #LRA violence. The Victoria’s Secret Supermodel mommy looked casual chic in red pants, a blue denim jacket and black flats as she toted her growing boy, Flynn Bloom, in her arms during the short walk from their chauffeured ride to their residence’s entrance.

George Clooney Arrested At Sudan Protest

George Clooney has been arrested. No it is not a misprint and you didn?t read it incorrectly, he was arrested for protesting a cause very close to his heart. Oh how it makes me heart him even more. Today in Washington D.C. mega star George Clooney was one of many leading a protest against Sudan in front of the Sudanese Embassy. The actor and his father were both part of a group that made their way in front of the building demanded action against Sudanese president Omar al-Bashir. In case you are unaware the Sudanese president is being accused of triggering a humanitarian crisis. The police were there to control the situation and warned protesters to stay on the right side of the police line. George, papa Nick and others did not oblige to that, so they were arrested. Before the A-list star spoke to reporters about what is going on in Sudan. You can see video footage of that below, it is really good. Wahlberg emphasized that they want to make sure that the script is as good as it can be before they move forward into production. "It certainly [has to be] something that's good enough to go and have green-lit and make right away," he said. "But I think it will be well worth the wait." From what "The Fighter" star and <a href="/news/articles/1680191/justin-bieber-birthday-fan-questions.jhtml">recent birthday boy</a> have said about the film, they're developing a basketball movie in the vein of "The Color of Money" in which Wahlberg will play a weathered baller who takes a younger player (Bieber) under his wing. Wahlberg has said that his <a href="/news/articles/1676492/mark-wahlberg-justin-bieber-basketball-movie.jhtml">intuition</a> is a big reason why he pursued the project with the pop star. "I'm pretty intuitive," he said. "I see the guy and spent time with him, and you see what he does and how he does it, and then you actually have a conversation with him, and it's there." Bieber has hinted that he hopes to fit a film project into his busy schedule this summer, though he didn't specifically say which film that might be. "What's happening is: get off this tour, and then my [holiday] album's coming out, so I have to go back out and promote that album … and then after that … it's almost time for my next album, so then everything starts over again," <a href="/news/articles/1672884/justin-bieber-new-movie.jhtml">Bieber told us</a> last fall. "Hopefully, next summer I can start on a movie or something."

Bobbi Kristina Brown and Nick Gordon are heating up their relationship, and they don’t care what anyone thinks about it.

The 19-year old daughter of Whitney Houston went public this week with the fact that she’s dating Gordon, a 22-year old who her mother took in many years ago and raised as her own child.

Since then, the pair has been spotted in public kissing and holding hands, with a source telling Us Weekly Bobbi and Nick are residing in a house in Atlanta – and are engaged!

“The situation is beyond sad,” this insider says of Brown and Gordon. “Whitney never formally adopted Nick, but he lived with her and Bobbi Kristina from the age of twelve and they were raised like brother and sister. Nick came from a really bad background.”

This mole adds that Bobbi is open about the engagement, showing off a huge diamond ring to friends and saying it formally belonged to her mother.

If she and Nick truly do go through with a marriage, it will be met with opposition from family members. Cissy Houston reportedly came out this week and labeled the relationship “incestuous.”

It all started when Bieber tweeted, "Call me maybe by Carly Rae Jepsen is possibly the catchiest song I've ever heard," creating an immediate runaway hit of the track off Jepsen's EP Curiosity. And now, a music video <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AsBsBU3vn6M" target="_blank">spoof</a> of the song, featuring heavy pop hitters like <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/gomez__selena/artist.jhtml">Selena Gomez</a>, <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/ashley_tisdale/artist.jhtml">Ashley Tisdale</a> and, of course, Bieber, has likely made "Call Me Maybe" the song of the season. <div style="background-color:#000000;width:428px;"><div style="padding:4px;"><iframe src="http://media.mtvnservices.com/mgid:uma:video:mtv.com:749364/cp~vid%3D749364%26instance%3Dmtv%26uri%3Dmgid%3Auma%3Avideo%3Amtv.com%3A749364" width="420" height="236" frameborder="0"></iframe></div></div> "I have no idea why Justin Bieber picked me out of everyone he could have picked, but I'm so glad he did," Jepsen told MTV News recently. So, who is the girl who wants you to call her, maybe? We already know the 26-year-old Canadian singer has fans in high places, and her track is in the top 10 on the iTunes singles chart, alongside the likes of Adele and Katy Perry. But there is much about this up-and-coming pop singer that you might not know, and MTV News would like to acquaint you with some lesser-known facts about Carly Rae Jepsen. 1. She is an "Idol" alum. In 2007, Jepsen placed third in the Canadian version of the popular "Idol" competition, touring across the country for the "Canadian Idol" Top 3 Concert Tour. During her first audition, Jepsen impressed the judges so much, singing original material, that one judge proclaimed his wish for her not to move forward in the show so he could sign her to a record deal right there and then. 2. She might collaborate with Justin Bieber. The Bieb is certainly "paying it forward." This past Christmas, <a href="http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1673032/justin-bieber-usher-christmas-song.jhtml" target="_blank">Usher recorded a song with his protégé</a> on "The Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire)," and now <a href="http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1681004/justin-bieber-carly-rae-jepsen-collaboration.jhtml" target="_blank">Bieber has reportedly collaborated on a track</a> with his protégé, Jepsen. "I think a collaboration with Justin Bieber isn't out of the question considering we've already gotten together and worked on a little something," Jepsen told MTV News. "But for when that will come out, your guess is as good as mine, but hopefully soon. I like the song." 3. She takes inspiration from life and her friends. Most art imitates life, and it is no different for Jepsen. But she also takes inspiration from the lives of those around her. "I have a fascination with words, so if a girlfriend starts talking and says a phrase that resonates with me, I'll put it down on a napkin and get inspired from that," Jepsen says of her creative process. 4. She loves shoes. Jepsen loves her stilettos. "I have an obsession with high heels mostly because I'm 5' 2" and a girl needs all the help she can get!" she quipped. She will likely have a ball this spring/summer fashion season as the height of heels grows, hopefully in conjunction with her rising stature. Jepsen has been making the media rounds under the tutelage of Bieber's manager, Scooter Braun, who recently told <a href="http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/justin-bieber-gives-singer-carly-rae-jepsen-a-boost-20120312" target="_blank">Rolling Stone</a>, "He's [Justin Bieber] never jumped out and promoted an artist like this." Jepsen is scheduled to make an appearance on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" on March 22, and it seems the sky's the limit for this folksy addition to the pop world, especially with Justin Bieber on her side.
